From the recording I MISS MISSISSIPPI

I wrote these lyrics after visiting Mississippi shortly after hurricane Katrina. I sent them to Rebecca to compose a melody, and I love what she did with it. Soon to be released on Rebecca's new CD, with Pat Bergesen on guitar, Charlie Chadwick on bass, Tommy Giampietro on drums, and Roy Agee on trombone.

Lyrics

I MISS MISSISSIPPI

OH MISSISSIPPI YOU LIED IN WAIT
THE STORM VEERED RIGHT AND SEALED YOUR FATE
THE WATERS ROSE AND BY THE DAWN
OH MISSISSIPPI, YOU WERE GONE

OH MISSISSIPPI YOU DRIED THAT DAY
YOUR PEACEFUL COAST WAS WASHED AWAY
FOR MILES AND MILES WHERE HOMES ONCE STOOD
IN MISSISSIPPI, WERE PILES OF WOOD

OH I MISS MISSISSIPPI
BLISSFUL MISSISSIPPI
SHINE ON SWEET MAGNOLIA MOON
OH I MISS MISSISSIPPI
BLESS YOU MISSISSIPPI
COME BACK MISSISSIPPI SOON

GULFPORT, BILOXI, D'IBERVILLE
TO PASCAGOULA YOU'VE HAD YOUR FILL
BUT YOU'VE GOT PRIDE AND YOU'VE GOT FRIENDS
JUST LIKE THE TIDE YOU'LL RISE AGAIN

(REPEAT CHORUS)
