Eddie Mugavero: news

G-men! Amen. - February 4, 2008

I knew I shoulda bet on my boys! Too cool!!

My take on the game is that Eli's scramble and Tyree's catch was the most exciting Super Bowl play EVER!! And to the Giant D...Stra, Osi, D-backs..fn amazing. Don't forget, Pats first TD was the result of a PI penalty in the end zone that put them on the 1. Otherwise, they'd have settled for 3. And Belichick, going for it on a 4th and 13...his kicker was banging them in from 50 during practice! Bad coaching, Belichicky, you schmuck.

Kudos to rookies Steve Smith, and the Boss. And vets Armani, and Jeff Feagles..Stra, Toom, Plax... wtg. And to coach Tom for hanging tough. Come back!

Why was Shockey in a luxury box and not on the bench? Tiki, thanks for the inspiration. I loved you, now I'm reconsidering. WTF on both.

Amazing game, still sinking in. What a playoff run..what a D...what a drive. We are champs, and I am psyched. More stuff for my walls!

One Giant upset - February 1, 2008

Prediction: Giants win, 39-37 in a shoot-out.
Eli, MVP. Plaxico, 4 TDs.

Life is good... - January 29, 2008

Go Giants!

"By the time we get to Phoenix.. - January 22, 2008

...we'll be 13 point underdogs."
We like it that way.

Super! - January 20, 2008

47 yds...easy.

GO GIANTS! - January 20, 2008

I once wrote about playing at Lambeau Field in 10 below. Yikes.

Button up, Eli.

United we stand.. - January 7, 2008

As I watch the primaries and wait for a front runner for whom to stand behind in my party, I am trying to see and understand views from both sides of the aisle.

It is my hope that whomever gets elected, Dem or Gop (yes, even Hillary), is supported and respected by our entire nation, and we can begin to truly be the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

Happy New Year! - December 31, 2007

'07 has been an interesting year. '08 is looking pretty amazing, both professionally and personally. Hope everyone prospers & finds peace and joy. Lana..what can I say? I love you undeniably and unconditionally. Soon.

Oscar - December 25, 2007

Goodnight, Oscar. Swing heaven.

I'm Blessed - December 22, 2007

I was in quite the reflective mood last week. I wrote this for all my friends & family, had a glass of wine, and recorded it on a little cassette tape. Merry Christmas..and God bless us..everyone!
I'M BLESSED

Toby Keith - December 7, 2007

I've always loved Toby's songs, his swagger and his politics. On the anniversary of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, I would like to salute you Toby, for your support of our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan; many celebrities have been asked to go to perform and lend some levity and support; many refused for a variety of reasons. You have been there many times.

This post is not political. I would just like to thank Toby for doing it, and putting his talent where his mouth is. Merry Christmas, Mr. Keith. Thanks.

David & Eddie & Jennie - November 23, 2007

I just got off the phone with my friend and bro, David Spear..Davido to some. David and I, along with drummer Jennie Hoeft, had an act in the mid-90's that defies description. We played mainly at a pizzeria in Nashville, and those days were some of the most creative, passionate times for me as a songwriter. I'm still amazed that we never became HUGE. I say this in not an egotistical way... but, as a veteren of the music biz, I see now how original and compelling we were as an act. David, if you read this, please know how much I love you and how much you've taught me..to have no fear, to have no boundaries..and to be original..it is so cool that, as we've both grown, and grown up, we realize that "if we only knew then...blah blah blah". You will always be my brother, and along with our 'sis', Jennie, we coulda changed the world with our passion...maybe still will. I love you guys...let's do it again soon, if for no one else but us, just for fun. Peace to you both. Eddie

Good News from Rebecca Sayre! - November 14, 2007

Below is a splash from Bec's newspage. Cool!
In the last week, I have finished two more songs! When I returned from California, I decided it was time to finish my beautiful record with a couple more upbeat tunes. I knew that the most efficient process would be to pull out some of my favorite Eddie lyrics so I could concentrate on the part I enjoy most… the music composition.

After all, Eddie writes many of these lyrics with me in mind. We’ll be having dinner or talking on the phone and the sharing stories about life, love and our respective epiphanies. The next day, he’ll email me a lyric which perfectly captures the essence of our conversation. It’s as if he squeezed out all the good stuff and condensed it into pure juice. Yum! Sometimes I think too much, (Ya think!?) but Eddie seems to know how to just get it down and in a way that demonstrates he knows who he’s speaking for. We went through a lot together in BadaBing with all the traveling and gigs we did together… it’s like living together, actually. And the fact that we’re still close friends is a testament to our bond. I am so grateful for our friendship and for our blossoming musical collaboration. He has the unique gift for communicating FOR me when the angst and emotional attachment to my own lyrics gets in my way! (That can really slow me down at times). There are times when I look at his lyrics and say “how did you know that about me? I never actually said it.” But he got it.

As of last night, just past midnight, I finished the music for the 2nd tune in a week. This one’s called “Different Shoes”. After going to bed last night, I thought “now I can call the record ‘Blues in my Shoes’, or ‘Nothin’ Like the Shoes’, or ‘Blues Shoes’… or maybe just ‘Shoes’. Ok, so I had a little fun with it before I drifted off to sleep. Got any suggestions?

Apply liberally - November 11, 2007

Remind me never to have a political argument. Can't win. Go Rudy.

..btw, thanks Vets for all your sacrifices. God bless you.

Lana - November 5, 2007

..is my beautiful Canadian friend. She is the coolest chick I know on every level. Thanks for being there, whenever. Thanks for co-administering my website, and unconditionally getting me. I love you Lana, but you gnu that.

Carma - November 3, 2007

So I'm on my way out for catfood, and I run outta gas, cuz my gas gauge is broken and I rarely drive this car cuz I rent, but I digress. Anyway, after walking 2 miles with a gas can with no top and filling it, I get picked up by 2 dudes cuz they probably assume I'm not an axe murderer. (Back in my axe murdering days, I rarely carried a gas can) Anyhow, for the entire drive back to my car, dude chastised me for carrying a gas can with no top. I'm thinking, "Jeez dude, why don't you just pull over if it's so bad.."

It seems finally, all the times I stopped for drivers in distress came back to me. Except I still got yelled at. Haha Thanks dude. I owe humanity one.

Oh..the point to this story. Dudes were playing a BadaBing BadaBoom CD. How funny is that, and what are the chances?

Red Sux! - October 29, 2007

Could there be a darker moment for us Yankee fans? Boston sweeps, Joe's gone, Alex opts out. Mo, Jorge...free agents..

Thankfully, the Gints are 6-2.

Nashville Airport - October 24, 2007

My day gig often takes me outta town. I love going to BNA, cuz I always seem to meet and strike up a conversation with a famous writer or performer that I've either written with, or admire. Anyway, last trip I met Paul Overstreet (Forever And Ever, Amen), and shared a plane with him. Tonight, I met Larry Weiss (Rhinestone Cowboy, Bend Me, Shape me). Larry and I tried to write once in the 90's, but never came up with anything. Not sure what this post is trying to say, 'cept that airports are cool. Most of the bartenders know my name. And we all take our shoes off, 'cept some of us have sold millions of records. Soon. Dig.

If we don't win tonight... - October 7, 2007

...don't call me til November. :)

Playoffs! Go Yanks!! - September 30, 2007

Never Forget 9-11-01 - September 11, 2007

God bless our President, his staff, our military personnel and their families, and America.

Scooter - August 14, 2007

I grew up listening to Phil broadcast Yankee games on Channel 11 in NJ. Holy Cow, Phil! I will miss you. RIP #10.

Thurman - August 2, 2007

Long live #15, Cap.

As big as David Hasselhoff - July 24, 2007

I missed the mark, no pun intended. Just signed another deal with SONY/BMG-Germany for "SHAKE HANDS AND COME OUT SWINGING" to be released as part of a cool dance compilation, featuring several well-known artists. Strudel for everyone!

Nashville archives! - July 22, 2007

I just discovered & posted some nuggets from my sordid past. These songs are mostly country, written either in NJ or in Nashville my very first year (1987). I know most of you have heard everything on my site..(right!), so here are some more.

SMALL REFLECTION
IS IT JUST ME
SHE CUT ME OFF AT THE PASS
BETWEEN A ROCK AND A SOFT PLACE
TIL YOU STOP AND SELL THE ROSES
I MISS YOU AS SOON AS YOU GET HERE
SONG CALLED LOVE
ALL HEAVEN'S BREAKIN' LOOSE
GUESS YOU HAD TO BE THERE
KICK OFF YOUR BLUES

...more to come!
